DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER

POSITION SUMMARY:

A Network Engineer has a versatile job. The main task of a Network Engineer is to implement, audit and troubleshoot network systems/devices. Their job is to protect the network from threats that could attack the organisation systems. They should have a thorough knowledge and a multi-branched background that should include expertise from the fields of information technology, network and information security.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Implementing, maintaining and monitoring the Company's network systems.
  • Monitor and manage the following technologies to ensure the availability, reliability and responsiveness of systems and services:
    • All LAN/WAN/WLAN and data network topologies
    • Network security infrastructure including firewalls, web and application filters
    • 3rd party telecom services including IPVPN, MPLS, Internet and PSTN
    • Voice services (IP Telephony) including VoIP and Video Conferencing
  • Configuring and maintaining intrusion prevention systems and firewalls.
  • Maintaining site to site VPNs and remote VPNs.
  • Maintaining tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities.
  • Reporting the security analysis and monitoring findings.
  • Configuring and maintaining switches and routers, applying patches and upgrading of firmware.
  • Maximise network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades
  • Configuring and maintaining Wireless infrastructure.
  • Maintaining DHCP environment.
  • Maintain and manage the SFTP sharing platform.
  • Verification of Backup status for Network, Security & Telephony infrastructure.
  • Help in managing support agreements with service providers and vendors.

Help in the performing IT audit and work in resolving vulnerabilities found.

DESCRIPTION OF REQUIRED PROFILE

Technical expertise:

  • Good knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies (switches, routers, wireless and firewalls) including centralized monitoring systems.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN switching and routing implementation and operation with specific knowledge of VLAN, VPN and SHDSL networking.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, networking and information system security principles, practices and technologies.
  • Understanding of core Internet routing protocols and services.

Education and Experience:

  • University (or equivalent) degree in computer science, engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge on dealing with security systems, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, log management, authentication systems, content filtering, etc.
  • Ability to communicate and report network security incidents and issues to the upper management.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery methods.
  • Network engineer certifications such as CCNA.
  • At least two years of professional experience as a LAN/WAN engineer in a medium IT enterprise environment. These should include one year of hands-on configuration, administration and troubleshooting experience of LAN switches, routers and firewall devices.
  • Experience in VPNs and mobility.
  • Experience in IP Telephony.
  • Experience and certification in CISCO products.
  • Experience in LAN traffic and WAN bandwidth monitoring and monitoring tools.
  • Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
